Adventures in Wine

Adventures in Wine

I believe we all start out at a similar point, being introduced to the likes of Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, etc. Unfortunately for many it ends there without any knowledge that there probably more wine grapes in the world than the population of a small country. The ‘Napa Cab or Nothing’ crowd might be surprised to know that the grape is found in 9 other countries, with the US only being 3rd in vine distribution. But to be fair, unless you are slightly insane like Terra and I who study wine, how would you know? We usually start out drinking what our parents drank if we grew up in a house that imbibed, chosen for us by what’s on wine lists in restaurants, or what we see in the grocery stores.

When Terra and I began to learn about grapes, obscure and classic, we were on a mission to try EVERYTHING!! We are still on that adventure and now you’re on it with us. Does this mean every single grape/wine in the world is a winner? Heck, no…but as we have learned some grapes that don’t historically have the best reputation, put in the right hands can be unforgettable. My personal pursuit (kind of my hobby)  to find those “unicorns” out there in the wild that are so special and really can’t be found in most places but in B+B and especially the 17 club.

As you are probably picking up, we have designed the 17 club to be a ride for those with a curious and wandering palette. When a country like Italy has over 98 native white grapes alone, why limit yourself to Pinot Grigio (no shade, we’ve got probably one of the best in the shop) but you could be drinking something WAY more fun from Italy like the Timorasso we brought you last August or the Etna Bianco made from the Cattarato grape in our inaugural month in March, that we are still dreaming about. In a nutshell, your relationship with wine should not be monogamous and we are here to help you cheat on your LTR grapes :) Thank you so much for trusting us with your palette.
